Amazon (NASDAQ) made a significant step toward their goal of net zero by 2040 by launching its first fully-electric heavy goods vehicle. Amazon already has five of these 37-tonne heavy goods vehicles in its fleet. Plans to add four more machines by the end the year. These machines are in addition to 1,000 vehicles already on the roads with Amazon.

Amazons Tilbury will charge the fleet and it will be operated out of Milton Keynes 360kW.

John Boumphrey (Amazon UK’s country manager) stated: Amazon is among the first companies to bring electric heavy goods trucks to the streets. This is an important milestone in our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and deliver more customers’ orders by using zero-emission vehicles.
