BRUSSELS/WASHINGTON – The United States will accept as many as 100,000 Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s invasion, according to two sources who spoke to Reuters.

As President Joe Biden of the U.S. meets Thursday with European leaders to discuss how to respond to Moscow’s invasion on their neighboring country, this announcement will be expected.

The details of the initiative, which included travel and immigrant logistics, were not yet clear.

According to a Biden administration official, not all the Ukrainians who are accepted will be granted refugee status in the United States. Some may come on humanitarian parole or family-based visas.

According to United Nations refugee agency (UNRWA), Ukraine is experiencing the largest refugee crisis since World War Two.
