Uber stock jumps on deal to offer New York City taxi rides in app

UberIt reached an agreement with New York City taxicabs to be listed on the app.

There are two taxi-hailing services, both operated by CurbAnd Creative Mobile TechnologiesThe integration of their software and Uber will allow customers to order taxis through Uber’s app.

Uber shares rose as high as 5% during premarket trading upon the announcement.

“This is a real win for drivers – no longer do they have to worry about finding a fare during off peak times or getting a street hail back to Manhattan when in the outerboroughs,” said Guy Peterson, Uber’s director of business development, in a statement. This is an enormous win for Uber riders, who now have instant access to thousands yellow taxis via the Uber app.
