Fed’s Waller says he sees no need for U.S. central bank digital currency -Breaking

(Reuters] – U.S. Federal Reserve President Christopher Waller indicated on Friday that he wasn’t convinced about the need to create a digital currency for central banks, especially not for customers with access to quick payment systems.

“Why are we so desperate for it?” Waller spoke at a virtual conference on digital currencies and central banking. I haven’t yet been convinced. Although it is not true, that doesn’t mean I won’t. But I haven’t yet seen this on a CBDC retail level. He didn’t make comments about the future of the economy or monetary policies.
