Sen. Joe Manchin announced Friday that he will cast his vote. Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to become the next Supreme Court justice.

“After having a meeting with her and reviewing her record, as well as closely watching her testimony, questioning the Senate Judiciary Committee, this week, I have decided I will vote for her nomination to the Supreme Court,” West Virginia Democrat, said in a release.

Jackson is encouraged by his support and has the chance to become the first Back woman on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jackson is eligible for confirmation if she has the support of at least 50 senators. In the equally divided chamber, Vice President Kamala Harris holds a tiebreaking vote. She has not been opposed by any Democrats.

Manchin, one the most conservative Democrats in Senate has fallen out with President Joe Biden (and the rest of his Caucus) on major issues. Some are now concerned about Jackson’s support.
