Recovery crews on Sunday found the second black box — the flight data recorder — from the wreckage of a China Eastern Airlines BoeingAccording to state media, a Boeing 737-800 plane crashed into a hillside in south China.

The flight MU5735 had 132 people aboard. On Monday, it was traveling from Kunming, in southwest China, to Guangzhou, on the coast. However, it crashed from its cruising altitude just as it should have begun its landing descent.

The chances of finding survivors were slim. On Saturday night, authorities announced at a news conference that all the passengers, as well as nine crew members were confirmed dead.

This was the most deadly air tragedy in China mainland since 1994. It occurred when a China Northwest Airlines flight flew from Xian into Guangzhou and crashed. 160 people were killed.

It is not known what caused the China Eastern crash.

The other black box — the cockpit voice recorder — was found on Wednesday, and has been sent to Beijing for examination by experts.

According to state media, the second black box was found on the site’s slope around 9:20 AM (0120 GMT), in wet conditions following recent rains.

According to the state media, the device was found below the slope’s surface 1.5m (5ft) and will be shipped to Beijing on Sunday for inspection.

China leads the crash investigation. As the Boeing 737-880 was manufactured in America, it has been invited to participate.

According to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, (NTSB), it is working with U.S. authorities and Chinese authorities in order to solve visa and Covid quarantine problems before taking part.
