Barclays shares fall after top investor offloads stake -Breaking

LONDON (Reuters). -Shares in Barclays LON: (LON) dropped as high as 6% on Tuesday morning after one of the top investors sold stock approximately equivalent to a 33% stake.
Goldman Sachs (NYSE) helped an unnamed investor launch a sale process for 575,000,000 shares Monday evening.
Although the Tuesday offering closed at 150 pence, it was still more than 6 percent off Monday’s close price. This put considerable pressure on its share price.
Barclays shares fell by around 6% in the first hour, just below its sale price. But, it recovered some lost ground. At 0727 GMT, the stock fell 4.3% to 153.5 pence.
According to Refiniv Eikon data, the Qatar Investment Authority (NYSE:) and Blackrock are two of the top shareholders holding around 3% in Barclays. Blackrock refused to respond when Reuters reached out on Monday. QIA, however, was unavailable for comment immediately.
Barclays is currently dealing with new compliance and risk issues after it revealed a loss of 450 million pounds ($589million) Monday as a result of overselling structured products to the United States.
Barclays stock fell 4% Monday after the disclosure.
Barclays stated that it may have to defer a 1 Billion Pound share buyback to avoid the losses it will suffer from the purchase of securities at their original purchase prices.
