Overtime Media is creating a new amateur sport league for high school footballers.

It announced Tuesday that OT7, a Brooklyn-based football league, will be launching a seven-on-7, low-contact league. This move is more than one year after Overtime created a high-school basketball league. Las Vegas will host the football program from June 9-12, 2012.

Overtime indicated that the company plans to use a portion from the proceeds of the sale to cover expenses related the the league. $80 million it raised in April 2021From investors such as Jeff Bezos’ investment firm and Drake, the global entertainer. OT7 also has Cam Newton as an investor. It was not possible to determine the terms of Newton’s investment.

CNBC was informed by Dan Porter, Overtime’s co-founder and chief executive officer that the company will “double down” in amateur leagues.

“We focus on the largest, most beloved sports and find our audience in those games where we can create something greater than what it was,” he stated.

Overtime publishes original sport content via social media channels, including Snapchat, AlphabetYouTube, Meta‘s Facebook. According to the company, it boasts more than 50,000,000 followers on its social media platforms. The company’s revenues come from two sources. It indirectly partners with brands through the integration of them in online media content, making money with video ads and from e-commerce to sell its apparel products.

CNBC last year reported that Overtime had raised $140 million in total since its 2016 launch. Pitchbook has estimated that Overtime’s market value was $280million in March 2021. Porter did not reveal any specifics on the company’s current valuation, other than to indicate that it was less than $1B.

Porter cited Newton’s knowledge of seven-on-seven soccer camps which could help him with OT7 operations. Newton is a recent investor who has coached seven-on-seven amateur football teams, which he refers to as “C1N” for over ten years.

“It is one thing to locate someone with big platforms who can help validate and bring your message to an audience. He’s deeper in.” [youth football]Porter stated that Porter cares deeply about this subject.

Newton stated to CNBC that although he thought about starting a youth league of football, he decided against it because “we felt with Overtime’s muscle, the direction this society is taking with social media platforms, giving these kids exposure that they most urgently need, I believe it makes the most sense.”

Within the OT7 football league

One year ago, Overtime Elite (or OTE) was launched by the company. It is located in Atlanta. This league allows young basketball players to skip the traditional college and high school levels, while helping them build their brand and prepare for the NBA draft.

This league is still only in its initial year. CNBC interviewed NBA scouts regarding OTE.

Overtime continues to expand its OTE content offerings.

Meta and OTE reached a partnership in January to produce virtual reality dunk performances for Oculus. Porter declined to discuss OTE’s revenue and the terms of this deal. Overtime may eventually get the rights to the content, but that is a possibility.

Porter said, “We want as much value to be built as possible.” Porter stated that Overtime’s audience on social media is not a large consumer of live linear. [media consumption]They will, we believe.”

Overtime completed a 10-3,000-square foot complex in Atlanta’s Atlantic Station last year. OTE staff and participants can call the campus home. OTE claims it offers financial literacy and life training. OTE offers players minimum $100,000 compensation and a $100,000 college expense reimbursement guarantee if they do not choose to go professional.

However, OT7 players will not receive any payment for their participation. Overtime claimed the move would protect college eligibility. It added that it will pay for expenses like hotel rooms, meals, and equipment costs..

OT7 features up to 24 teams competing in eight games, with a playoff round to decide the champion. These games are played at 40 yard lines on a 100-yard NFL field. They last for 20 minutes with no pads and the ability to tackle is limited. OT7 allows one-hand touching to stop play.

Overtime stated that the league will help players improve their passing and running skills. Six seconds will be allotted to quarterbacks for passing passes. The league could host 500-700 athletes, according to Overtime.

Newton stated that there has been a market for seven-on-7 since years. Their seven-in-seven film has helped kids to receive scholarships. He stated that OT7 would give “kids exposure through the visual content they need.” No matter what star you are, we will give you the platform to showcase your skills.
