PHOENIX – General MotorsThe automaker has already received over 65,000 reservations to its GMC Hummer electric pickups and SUVs. This is in an effort to increase production to meet customer demand.

Duncan Aldred is the global vice president for GMC. According to Aldred’s estimates, reservations are higher than originally expected. He also said that the number of people who have converted their reservations to orders for the Hummer pickup is 95% higher than anticipated.

“Production is actually slightly ahead than planned and we’re putting in things now to actually expedite it as well, so that we can deliver these reservations faster than we initially thought,” he said during an event for CNBC. “We’re seeing momentum building.”

Aldred stated that the Hummer EV pickup will be available for purchase, however, new orders won’t likely be filled until 2024 because of existing reservations. It is the SUV GM unveiled last yearIt is not likely that the pickup will take place before 2023.

Because the pickup was first launched, most reservations were for the Hummers. But, recent Hummer assistant marketing manager Megan Hart said that the trucks and SUVs have had more equal numbers of newer reservations. It was not possible to determine the exact breakdown of reservation for pickup or SUV.

Aldred noted that March is the busiest month for reservation except when the cars were revealed. GMC launched advertising for Hummer EV pickups late last month. NBA star Lebron JamesActing as celebrity spokesperson for the vehicle.

We are now focusing on how to build as much as we can and what we can do to fulfill the reservations as fast as we can. Aldred added. “We have all our studies done on this and are confident that we can move a lot faster than originally believed, however it does still mean that we will probably deliver in 24 hours.

Aldred explained that the best way to boost production is to get more of crucial components like battery cells.

GM still has the Hummer in its early stages of production pickup at a plant in Detroit.Both legacy automakers as well as new EV startups have had to slow down the production of electric cars in order to make sure they are safe and maintain quality.

GM sold one Hummer EV pickup truck in December. Detroit’s automaker, GM, is scheduled to release its first quarter results, which will include Hummer EV pickups.

Aldred stated that the company has already produced more cars than originally intended. Aldred said, “And then similar next year. We’re going build quite substantially more than our initial plan.”

GM’s Hummer EV pickup truck is an important model. The first vehicle to feature the Detroit automaker’s new-generation platform and battery cells, called Ultium. This is the new brand’s flagship product.

Aldred stated that although volumes of this pickup are less than those made by other trucks due to its price, they still make a profit. GM currently has a limited edition 1 pickup available for purchase starting at $110,295. Other, lower-priced versions – ranging from about $80,000 and $100,000 – will follow.
