Reid Hoffman’s start-up poaches staff from Google, Meta

InflectionAI, the start up launched earlier this monthLinkedIn billionaire Reid Hoffman has hired DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman to recruit artificial intelligence gurus. Google MetaAccording to CNBC analysis, it is.

Inflection is based in Silicon Valley and aims to create AI software products which make communication with computers easier.

When the company was launched, the only three team members that were made public were Suleyman, Hoffman and former DeepMind researcher Karén Simonyan. Others, however, have joined the ranks.

Heinrich Kuttler, a research engineer manager at Meta AI, London, has resigned to join the Inflection founding team, where he will be working on technical aspects of the company. According to his LinkedIn page, he is one of many people to have leftMark Zuckerberg CEO, Meta has announced a pivot towards the so-called Metaverse.

Joe Fenton, a senior product manager at Google, left in February to join the InflectionAI founding team, where he works on the product aspect of the company.

CNBC asked Kuttler to comment, as did Fenton. Fenton used to be at DeepMind alongside Suleyman. Inflection refused to comment. CNBC requested comment from Meta and Google.

It is not uncommon for engineers or researchers to land AI jobs at DeepMind Google, Meta and other companies with impressive resumes. Fenton has an excellent degree in Physics from University of Warwick, England. Kuttler, on the other hand, studied mathematical and theoretical physics at top universities in Germany.

Inflection is Hoffman’s first co-founded company since his retirement. sold LinkedIn to Microsoft for $26.2 billion in 2016. It is also the first company Suleyman has co-founded since he sold DeepMind to Google in 2014 for around $600 million. The pair are also investors at venture capital firm Greylock.
