Carrefour plans EV charging stations at French hypermarkets, supermarkets -Breaking

Carrefour (PA:), announced Wednesday that it plans to have over 700 charging stations for electric cars and 5,000 points in its French hypermarkets, and Carrefour Market supermarkets, by 2025.
Carrefour joins a number of other retailers around the world, including Starbucks (NASDAQ:), who are betting on this extra service to win shoppers and boost their green credentials.
Customers will find the first charging station in their carpark at the La Chapelle Saint-Luc hypermarket, Troyes, northern France from April 8th, according to the statement.
EY reported that utilities and governments must develop ambitious plans in order to prepare Europe for the arrival of 130 million electric vehicles by 2035.
According to “Power sector accelerating emobility” from Europe’s utilities trade organization and professional services group, Europe will need 65,000,000 EV chargers – 9,000,000 public and 56,000,000 residential – to accommodate the massive growth in EVs from the 3.3million currently on Europe’s roads.
