NEW YORK (Reuters), The Whitney Biennial is back in New York with a new focus on different generations, the relationship between present and future, as well the show’s success in boosting the careers and career of painters Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock and Jackson Pollock.
The Whitney Museum of American Art’s “Quiet as It’s Kept” exhibit features 63 artists, collectives, and across all generations. It was created in 1973.
Adrienne Edwards, curator, and David Breslin (who worked on the show for three years) said that it presents “hunches”, instead of a single theme.
Edwards stated that the question of time was about how we perceive time. She also noted how she lost her senses of time due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Breslin stated, “This isn’t a show for Zoom.” The experience of being there, each floor having its own sense of sensibility and sensitity made it very easy to put the show together. It also gave us an emotional context to help our clients receive it.
From April 6 through Sept. 5, the Whitney Biennial is on.
