LONDON/DUBAI – OPEC SecretaryGeneral Mohammad Barkindo stated that OPEC+ participants must “stay on the same page” about the group’s decisions. He spoke ahead of Thursday’s OPEC+ Meeting, where the group is likely to maintain its deal to increase output gradually.

An OPEC statement stated that Barkindo suggested that OPEC+ members must remain vigilant and alert to constantly changing market conditions.

Despite a spike in oil prices and requests from the United States to increase supply, OPEC+ would likely continue to plan for a small increase in crude oil production for May.

Barkindo spoke out in response to market changes and said, “We call on global leaders to… ensure an uninterrupted, stable and safe flow of energy for the entire world.”
