REUTERS/Sarah Meyssonnier(Reuters) – Air France KLM has announced that CEO Ben Smith will be reappointed by the airline for an additional five-year term. The statement was made Thursday by the Franco-Dutch group.
Pieter Elbers will be replaced by Marjan Rintel as CEO of KLM’s Dutch arm KLM, the group announced.
Anne-Marie Couderc, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors stated in a statement that “These two decisions made by the Board of Directors stabilize the governance of the Group at a crucial moment in its history.”
Rintel was previously an executive at Air France-KLM, and currently heads the NS. This is Netherland’s largest passenger rail operator.
Elbers had been reelected by the board of directors in January.
Smith was Air France KLM’s CEO from 2018 to 2018, during the coronavirus pandemic and when the company received large amounts of state aid.
