BEIJING (Reuters – China is now completing the major search and rescue operations at the crash site for China Eastern Airlines’ (NYSE:) flight that resulted in the deaths of 132 people. A senior aviation official stated on Thursday that he plans to compile a preliminary report within the next 30 days.

Zhu Tao safety chief at Civil Aviation Administration of China, CAAC (CAAC), said that a final report will be made on the Boeing (NYSE) 737-800 crash. It will then be released to the public.

International rules require that a report be filed with the U.N. Aviation Agency ICAO within 30 days. However, it is not required to be made public. Although it is usually due within one year after the accident, sometimes it may take much longer.
