Formula One will be returning to Las Vegas next season, the race taking places on the famed Las Vegas Strip.
Grand prix will take place on Saturday, possibly around Thanksgiving. The track passes some of the most iconic landmarks, casinos, and hotels in the city.
It measures 3.8 mi from start to stop, with top speeds of over 212 MPH.
There will be 50 races laps. The circuits include three straights and fourteen corners.
Stefano Domenicali was president and chief Executive of Formula 1 and stated: “This incredible moment for Formula 1 demonstrates the enormous appeal and growth of the sport with a 3rd race in America.
Sky Sports has even more:
Las Vegas is known for its thrills and excitement.
Formula 1 can race in no better location than the capital of global entertainment, and we are eager to return next year.”
F1’s third U.S. Grand Prix will take place in Las Vegas, where neon lights and the Miami Grands Prix will provide the setting.
In the 1980s, Vegas hosted two F1 grand prix. However they were held in the parking lot at Caesars Palace.
Last week Domenicali told Sky Sports F1’s Martin Brundle that Africa could also hold races in the future, with the calendar set to grow.
F1 will host a record number of races this year, but the Concorde Agreement which is valid until 2025 allows for 24 races.
South Africa’s Kyalami circuit — which Lewis Hamilton recently insisted should be back in F1 — last hosted a race in 1993 and has been mooted as an option.
Domenicali stated, “On top America and on top China, I believe there is also a potential to be in Africa shortly.”
It is an area of great interest. It’s certain that this is yet another area missing from our geographical calendar.
