Amazon’s NY union vote count continues, labor leads -Breaking

(Reuters] – The lead was held by organized labor supporters in a Amazon.com facility (NASDAQ:), in New York City’s Staten Island, in a contest for forming a union. U.S. regulators continued tally voting on Friday.

On Thursday, the voting was over. Those who were in favor of establishing Amazon Labor Union (ALU), at JFK8 the fulfillment center that is now known as JFK8, maintained a 57 percent advantage over those who had voted against organizing.

It is anticipated that Friday will be the last day for the National Labor Relations Board to conduct a tally.

The victory of organized labor at America’s second largest private employer would mark a landmark moment for Amazon and labor advocates who have long considered Amazon’s labor practices to be dangerous for workers.

In Alabama, 53% rejected unionization on Thursday. This is still not a final result.

The outcome of the Alabama contest may hinge on the adjudication in coming weeks of 416 challenged ballots. This is sufficient to make a difference, according to the NLRB. This is a far more complicated situation than last year, when Amazon workers supported unionization by more than 2 to 1.
