NEW YORK (Reuters). Ghislaine Maxwell is asking the federal judge that oversaw her recent sextrafficking trial for review a revelation from one of her jurors. Then, he will decide whether to overturn the British socialite’s conviction and allow a fresh trial.

Bobbi Sternheim was Maxwell’s lawyer and requested the request Friday in advance of Paramount+’s airing of “Ghislaine: Partner in Crime” on Paramount+. This series examines Maxwell’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, a disgraced financier.

Maxwell (60) was found guilty of sex trafficking, four counts of helping Epstein to sexually abuse girls under age, and two other charges.

However, the verdict got cloudy when Juror 50 (a male known as Juror 50) told media that during juror deliberations he disclosed that he was sexually abused at the age of five, after having failed to do so in a pretrial screening questionnaire.

Maxwell’s lawyers stated that Juror50 would have been removed from the jury “for cause”, reflecting the potential bias of Maxwell.

Juror 50 stated at the March 8 hearing that his speed through the questionnaire was what he called “one of my biggest mistakes in life” but that he didn’t lie to Maxwell.

Paramount+’s trailer stated that Juror 50 revealed “bombshell” in his interview with Maxwell.

Juror 50 insisted that some jurors were unable to be trusted with certain victims. “Just cause their memories are fuzzy doesn’t necessarily mean they’re lying.”

Todd Spodek was the juror’s lawyer. He stated that the interview occurred on Jan. 4th, the same day as his client spoke to media.

Spodek stated in an email that “Juror 50 doesn’t consider himself a victim.” His position at the time, as well as now is that it is an honest, inadvertent mistake.”

Paramount Global did not respond immediately to our requests for comment. Paramount Global is the parent company of this network, which was formerly known as ViacomCBS (NASDAQ):

Sternheim, in a letter addressed to Alison Nathan Circuit Judge, the person who had oversaw Maxwell’s trial, stated that Paramount+ delayed “Ghislaine, Partner In Crime” until the judge determines whether a second trial is necessary.

Nathan was raised this week by the Federal Appeals Court in Manhattan, though he retains full jurisdiction over Maxwell.

Epstein committed suicide at the age of 66 while in Manhattan’s jail cells, waiting to be tried on sex-trafficking allegations.
