It cited a U.S. official.
According to The Times, the official who was not identified said that transfers requested by Volodymyr Zelenskiy the Ukrainian President would be made soon. The paper reported that the official did not say whether or how many tanks would arrive from different countries.
The Pentagon refused to respond to Reuters. A request to comment was not received by the White House immediately.
According to the Times, the official claimed that tanks would enable Ukraine to carry out long-range artillery strike on Russian targets within the Donbas area of the southeastern Ukraine bordering Russia.
The newspaper stated that this is the first time the United States had helped to transfer tanks.
