Boeing factory problems disrupt Air Force One production

(Reuters) – The production of the Air Force One plane by Boeing (NYSE) was interrupted early in this year, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter.

It was attempted to put one of two under-development jets onto jacks, but some of them were heavier than the limit. This led to concerns about aircraft damage. (https://on.wsj.com/3u95Swi)

According to the Journal, Boeing and Pentagon are currently in negotiations for a schedule of delivery for the Air Force One planes.

According to media reports, Boeing claimed last year that two empty bottles of tequila were found on an Air Force One aircraft being built in San Antonio. However, alcohol is prohibited at all Boeing plants.

Trump, the former President of the United States, had previously criticized American planemaker Boeing for charging high prices for heavily modified 7477-8 aircraft. In 2018, however, the firm was awarded $3.9Bn to make two Air Force One-class aircraft.

Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner was also plagued with production problems, and delays in delivery have resulted in numerous complaints from airlines.

Reuters requested comment from the manufacturer of the plane but they did not respond immediately.
