Nio Inc. (NYSE 🙂 has apparently blamed an employee who allegedly used company servers illegally to mine cryptocurrency. CnEVPost claims that the illegal mining has been occurring since February 20, 2021.

Blogger shared the internal notice, which revealed that the compliance and risk management division received a complaint about the employee on September 1, 2021.

NIO stated that this conduct was suspected to be illegal, and that it negatively affected the company’s information security system and business systems security. The employee also admitted that he did so.

China currently bans mining cryptocurrency. According to the company, the server manager profited from Ether mining by using the position of administrator for a cluster servers.
