U.S. sanctions Putin’s adult children, bans all new investment in Russia

WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, the United States announced that it will impose new sanctions on Russia. This includes sanctions for the first time against two Russian daughters.
Maria Putina and Katerina Tikhonovna are both in their 30s and are seldom seen and rarely mentioned by their fathers. They have never been identified by the Kremlin except for their initial names.
A senior official from the administration spoke out to discuss background and preview sanctions.
Along with Putin’s daughters the U.S. also will sanction Sergei Lavrov’s spouse and daughter as Russian Foreign Minister. White House announces that Dmitry Medvedev (former President, Prime Minister and Prime Minister Russia) and Mikhail Mishustin (previous Prime Minister and former President of Russia) will also be sanctioned.
Sberbank, and Alfa Bank, Russia’s biggest banks will be hit with full blockade sanctions, but not just for individual names.
