El Salvador’s Bukele Will Not Attend Miami Bitcoin Conference 2022Nayib Bukele, president of El Salvador, and advocate for the country, has canceled his appearance on the Miami Bitcoin Conference 2022 scheduled for April 6-9, 2019.
Bukele declared an emergency 12 days ago in El Salvador due to the rise in violence by gangs. The March 25th crime wave saw 87 victims killed within 72 hours. Nearly 7,000 gangsters were arrested in the wake of this initial wave.
Bukele, who made Bitcoin a legal tender in El Salvador, acknowledged the country’s delicate situation and canceled his trip to Miami.
“I have just made the decision of canceling my participation in the conference due to unforeseen circumstances in my home country that require my full attention as president,”
He stated.
Bitcoin Magazine hosted the event, which was deemed to be one of the biggest Bitcoin events in history. Bukele was chosen as one of the speakers. He would discuss topics like the adoption process El Salvador went through in Bitcoin, and the benefits that cryptocurrency offers citizens.
