NEW YORK (Reuters) – New York state’s attorney general is seeking to compel real estate company Cushman & Wakefield (NYSE:) to comply with subpoenas in connection with its civil probe into the Trump Organization, according to court filings on Friday.

For three and a half years Attorney General Letitia Jam has been looking into the business practices of former President Donald Trump. Her focus is on his misvaluation of real estate assets to get tax deductions or loans.

James revealed that Cushman performed appraisals of several Trump Organization properties on Friday, including Seven Springs in New York’s Westchester County. Also, Cushman appraised the Trump National Golf Course, Los Angeles and 40 Wall Street.

James’s office seeks to establish whether Cushman’s appraisals were false or misleading. Cushman, however, has not responded to the subpoena dated February 20,22, and has only partially adhered to an earlier subpoena.

The filing by James read, “While Cushman originally expressed his desire to comply OAG’s subpoenas. However, the company withheld hundreds responsive documents and ordered four witnesses to not answer many questions based upon meritless privilege assertions made by Trump Organization.”

Cushman announced in January 2021, that it was cutting ties with Trump Organization. Cushman did not immediately reply to our request for comment Friday.

Trump, who was defeated in his re-election bid in November 2020 as a Republican, has denied wrongdoing. He dismissed James’ investigation as politically motivated. James, a Democrat is seeking re-election to her position.

James is now looking into Cushman records. She asked a New York court to put Trump in contempt for refusing to hand over documents she requested. And to give him $10,000 per day for any failure to do so.

New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron ordered that Trump respond to his request by April 25. He should then explain why Trump shouldn’t have been held in contempt.
