MERSING, Malaysia (Reuters). Police said that a French woman and a British citizen who went missing while diving off Malaysia’s coast were discovered safe and sound on Saturday. The pair had been drifting 100 km (80 mi) for more than two days.

They said that the search for the missing diver, the British boy’s 14-year old son, has been extended to Indonesian waters.

Alexia Alexandra Molina (18 years), and Briton Adrian Peter Chesters (46) were among four divers who disappeared on Wednesday after a training dive in the vicinity of Tokong Sanggol. They are located on an island just off Mersing’s southeast coast.

Kristine Grodem (35), a Norwegian instructor was saved by the group on Thursday.

Officials said that fishermen spotted Molina (1700 GMT Friday morning) and Chesters off Indonesia’s Bintan Island, south-east of Singapore and about 100km from where they were last seen.

They are stable and are under observation but aren’t ready for interview. Reporters were told by Cyril Edward Nuing chief Mersing police district.

As Chesters had most likely drifted in their waters, he said that the search would be taken over by Indonesian authorities for Nathan Renze Chesters (14-year-old Dutch citizen).

He stated that there was a good chance that the victim is not in Malaysian waters. This is because of the movements of the sea currents and the location at which the victims were located.

He said that Malaysian assets were available to assist.

Grodem had earlier stated to officials that the group came up about half an hour after their Wednesday dive, but couldn’t find their boat.

After being caught by strong currents, she was eventually separated from her family.

Police said that the boat operator, who brought them to the diving site, was arrested after receiving positive drug tests.
