(NASDAQ:) began manufacturing iPhone 13s in India on Monday as part of an effort by the U.S. tech giant to lessen its dependence on Chinese suppliers.
A source claims that the phone is being manufactured in Sriperumbudur (Southern Tamil Nadu), at an Apple contract factory Foxconn.
Apple is planning to build iPad tablets in India and has begun shifting production areas from China.
As they diversify away from China, contract producers are increasingly looking to India and other countries like Vietnam to supply their brands.
After the launch of manufacturing in India for the iPhone SE in 2017, the iPhone 13 will be the fourth model produced in India.
