(Reuters] – Frontier Group (NASDAQ: JetBlue Airways) and JetBlue Airways are fighting for low-cost airline business Spirit Airlines (NYSE:) As legacy airlines are outnumbered, U.S. airlines compete for more of the leisure travel market.

JetBlue presented an unrestricted offer of $33 per shares in cash. It was more than the $25-per-share Frontier cash-and stock bid. Spirit opened negotiations with the New York-based airline.
