Ukraine President Volodymyr Zilenskyy, Tuesday announced the capture of Viktor Medvedchuk (a pro-Kremlin politician living in Ukraine).
Medvedchuk was under house arrest for treason since last year. allegedly escapedShortly after Russia’s invasion, he was arrested. His lawyers are denied wrongdoing.
“A special operations was performed thanks to the SBU,” Zelenskyy stated in Russian via his Telegram verified account. This referenced Ukraine’s Security Service.

Zelenskyy shared a picture showing Medvedchuk looking disheveled, sitting by a radiator while his hands were in handcuffs.
Medvedchuk is the leader of an opposition pro-Russian party in Ukraine. He has been a strong opponent to Kyiv’s calls to NATO. Putin is also godfather to Medvedchuk’s daughter.
Some experts have speculatedMedvedchuk, if Putin intended to install a puppet head after the downfall of Ukraine’s government would have made it onto the shortlist.
