General Atlantic hires ex-IHS Markit boss Uggla to lead climate venture -Breaking

LONDON (Reuters), a former boss at data company IHS Markit named Lance Uggla chief executive of U.S. Private Equity firm General Atlantic’s climate-focused venture BeyondNetZero.

Uggla created Markit and led a 2016 merger with IHS. He most recently served as CEO and chairman of IHS Markit, which S&P Global (NYSE:) bought for $44 billion in February.

BeyondNetZero was founded by John Browne (NYSE:) and is a partnership that focuses on growth equity investments related to the transition to a low carbon economy. This includes energy efficiency or decarbonisation.

Bill Ford, Chief Executive of General Atlantic said that BeyondNetZero would support and scale the most promising technologies and businesses.

General Atlantic was established in 1980. It currently holds assets in excess of $84 Billion.

Uggla worked earlier in his professional career for Toronto Dominion Bank (NYSE:), and The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. His experience in building Markit has shown him that businesses can quickly grow with the right support.

Uggla stated that he looks forward to continuing to build on BeyondNetZero’s momentum and identifying entrepreneurs in the forefront of innovation in this field, as well as partnering with them to scale up their solutions.
