Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (NS:) was the best performer of the session, rising 3.17% or 5.35 point to close at 174.25. Meanwhile, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. ITC Late trade saw Ltd (NS) rise 1.79%, or 4.75 points, to 269.55,

They were also the session’s worst performers Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., which dropped 1.95% (or 148.85) to trade at 7,469.50 as of the closing. Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS) fell 1.95%, or 47.20 point to finish at 2,378.50 HDFC Bank Ltd (NS): The decline in NS was 1.91% or 28.55 to 1,464.95.

ITC Ltd., which gained 1.87% to 269.50 was the top performer on BSE Sensex 30, while Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO), which rose 1.66% to 936.45, and Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(BO:), which saw 0.99% increase to close at 2,152.45.

Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 2.01% to 2,377.40 late trade. HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO) lost 1.90% and settled at 1,464.85. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. was also down 1.86% at 7,471.85 by close.

On the India National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered those in decline by 1033, 789, and 44. The ending of the Bombay Stock Exchange saw 1800 rise and 1478 fall, and 131 ended unchanged.

ITC Ltd. (NS:), shares rose to 52 week highs. They gained 1.79%, or 4.75 to 269.55. ITC Ltd (BO) shares rose to 52-week peak; increasing 1.87%, or 4.95 to 269.50. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO) shares increased to their 5-year peak; growing 1.66%, or 15.30 to 936.55.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was lower by 2.05% to 17.78.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was up 0.2%, or 4.40, to $1.980.50 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil delivery for May increased 1.56%, or 1.57, to reach $102.17 per barrel. The June Brent oil contract rose 1.66 or 1.74, to trade at $106.38/barrel.

USD/INR gained 0.01% at 76.16 while EUR/INR gained 0.15%, to 82.46.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.3% to 100.43
