DUBAI (Reuters), – It would take more than the killing of American leaders to avenge General Qassem Soleimani’s death, an Iranian Revolutionary Guards general stated.

While on a U.S. visit to Iraq in January 2020, Soleimani died. Iran promised a “crushing vengeance” to all the assailants.

It will not bring Soleimani to justice even if American leaders are executed. Mohammad Pakpour of the Revolutionary Guards ground forces commander said that we must continue Soleimani’s steps and find other ways to do so.

Soleimani, Iran’s most powerful commander military, led Tehran’s Middle East operations. At Baghdad’s airport, Soleimani was murdered in an attack ordered by President Donald Trump.

Pakpour’s remarks come at a time when Iran and the world powers are trying to address stumblingblocks in Vienna talks on revitalizing 2015 nuclear agreement, which has stalled.

Unresolved questions include whether Washington will remove the Revolutionary Guards (also known as the U.S. Foreign Terrorist Organization FTO list) from its U.S. Foreign Terrorist Organization List, which Tehran demanded in order to revive the agreement.
