(Reuters] – A recent inquiry by Bloomberg News into the links between Jack Ma’s Ant Group, a Chinese billionaire and Chinese state-owned businesses was conducted by China’s Communist Party anti-corruption watchdog.

According to reports, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, (CCDI), was looking into Ma’s financial empire and the amount of transactions it made with state banks, and other enterprises.

Ant has not yet responded to Reuters’s request for comment. CCDI was not able to be reached at the moment.

A subsidiary of an e-commerce company Alibaba (NYSE:) Ant was subject to an extensive restructuring by China. This led to Ant’s $37 billion initial public offer in 2020.

Bloomberg reports that the Anti-Corruption Watchdog was included in questions sent to state companies in February regarding Ant. This was part of an investigation into Zhou Jiangyong (ex-Communist Party Secretary for the Technology Hub of Hangzhou), which was then terminated from the party.

In January, the Financial Times reported that Ant from Hangzhou was involved in the corruption case against Zhou Jiangyong.
