Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index was down 1.21% and the index lost 0.33% at closing in NYSE.

These were the best performers of the session Nike Inc (NYSE 🙂 rose 4.68%, or 5.97 points, to trade at 133.46 by the close. Meanwhile, Caterpillar Inc (NYSE 🙂 gained 4.37%, or 9.54 point to close at 229.81. Dow Inc (NYSE 🙂 was up 2.07% (or 1.33 points) to 65.49 late trade.

Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE:) fell 3.22%, or 6.31 points, to close at 189.41. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:), fell 3.0%, 5.11 points, and ended at 165.29. Intel Corporation was also down 2.85% (or 1.34 points) to reach 45.67.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Nike Inc (NYSE:) which rose 4.68% to 133.46, Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc (NYSE. ) rose 4.57% to settle in at 223.67. Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE. ) rose 4.37% and closed at 227.81.

These were the worst performers State Street Corp (NYSE :), which fell 8.50% to 75.81 late trade, WW Grainger Inc NYSE:), which lost 6.77% at 491.43, and Generac Holdlings Inc NYSE: which dropped 6.30% at 251.19 close.

Medavail Holdings Inc rose 69.44% up to 2.44 and CumulusMedia Inc Class A (NASDAQ) rose 39.86%, settling at 14.21 Apptech Corp (NASDAQ:), which saw a 36.36% increase to close at 2.25

Histogen Inc (NASDAQ) was the worst performer, falling 36.38% to 0.25 late trade. Singularity Future Technology Ltd(NASDAQ:), which fell 23.19% to settle for 6.46, and Singularity Future Technology Ltd. (NASDAQ) were both poor performers. Protagonist Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 21.83% to 19.95 by the end.

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 2033, 1178, and 114 were unchanged. The Nasdaq Stock Exchange had 2541 fall and 1297 advance, and 188 was unchanged.

State Street Corp (NYSE 🙂 shares fell to 52 week lows. This was 8.50% less or 7.04 to 75.71. Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. (NYSE:), rose to 52 week highs, gaining 4.57% (9.73 to 222.67). Generac Holdings Inc. (NYSE:), shares dropped to 52-week lowests. They fell 6.30%, or 16.90, to 251.19. Salesforce.com Inc shares fell 52 weeks to their lowest level; falling by 3.22% (or 6.31) to 189.41

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.03% to 22.70.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.60%, or 11.85, to $1972.85 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 2.08% to reach $106.42/barrel in May, and the June Brent crude oil contract that rose 2.45% to trade at $111.44/barrel.

The EUR/USD fell 0.51% at 1.08 while the USD/JPY rose 0.222% to 125.93.

At 100.31, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.40%.
