Russia Chamber Exec Proposes Crypto Payments with African Countries- Sergey Katyrin is a Chamber Executive and proposes an innovative cross-border cryptocurrency settlement to import-export payments.

Sergey Katyrin, President of Russia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry proposed cross-border settlements in cryptocurrency and Central Bank Digital Currencies. These proposals were made amidst exceptional sanctions restricting Russia’s ability to trade internationally.
Katyrin sent a note to Mikhail Mishutin in which he proposed a series of measures to improve economic relations between Russia and Africa.
Katyrin said in a TASS report:
It is appropriate for the Ministry of Finance to be instructed, along with the central banking, to make sure that intergovernmental agreements are concluded with African states regarding the use of crypto and national currencies in mutual settlements or payments
Additionally, the Board Head suggested both departments set up a new settlement method for im-export payments.
Katyrin also stressed that it was of vital importance to the Russian Federation for this type of cooperation with friendlier areas.
In detail, the suggestions come as mounting western sections’ demands over the war in Ukraine continue to limit Moscow’s access to global finances and its currency reserves in foreign banks.
However, the Bank of Russia has reservations about using crypto currencies to avoid sanctions. But, the Finance Ministry leads efforts to legalize them. It claims the sanctions encourage Russia to build its own cryptocurrency market infrastructure.
