KYIV (Reuters – Ukraine’s state-owned railroad company temporarily limited the transport of certain agricultural goods across border crossings into Poland and Romania. Consultancy APK-Inform stated Saturday.

They were not justified in placing restrictions.

Ukraine is a significant agricultural producer. It used to export the majority of its goods via seaports, but Russia has invaded and forced it to ship its goods by rail to its west border.

APK-Inform stated that restrictions have been placed on goods movement to Poland via Yahodyn from April 16 through April 18.

You cannot transport cereals, oilseeds or other products from Izov into the Polish cities of Hrubeszew, Slawkov, without restrictions.

The consultancy stated that restrictions will be in place on exports of seeds and grain to Romania from April 16 through further notice.

For immediate comments, the railway company could not be reached.

Mykola Solskyi, Ukrainian minister of agriculture, said that this week’s main mission was to look for alternative export routes for Ukrainian grain. Many commodities are available to export in the country, including millions of tonnes.

Solskyi said that approximately 1.25 million tonnes worth of oilseeds and grains were stored on Ukrainian vessels. These commercial vessels are blocked from Ukrainian seaports. They may be damaged soon.

Ukraine used to export 6 million tonnes per month of oil and grain before the war. Exports to Ukraine fell to just 200,000 tonnes during March.
