Fund Manager Reade Griffith buys stake in Mediaset Espana amid takeover -Breaking

REUTERS/Andrea ComasMADRID, (Reuters) – Reade Griffith, a fund manager bought a minor stake in Spanish broadcaster Mediaset. (OTC:). Espana was acquired by MediaForEurope’s parent company MediaForEurope. A filing to Spain’s stock regulator revealed that Reade Griffith had purchased a minority share of Spanish media station Mediaset.
Tetragon is an Amsterdam-listed investor fund. Griffith heads the Investment Committee. Since Monday, Griffith has owned a 1.022% share in Mediaset Espana using financial instruments, according to its website.
MediaForEurope, formerly Mediaset Espana, is now controlled by Silvio Berlusconi’s family.
In mid-March, the Italian company offered 4.5 ordinary A shares to each Mediaset Espana shareholder and 1.860 euro in cash. That’s about 5.613 Euro per share.
Griffith was also a co-founder of Polygon hedge fund in 2000s, which made investments in Spanish businesses that had also been targeted by takeovers.
