© Reuters India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 1.25%Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
NSE close: The index dropped 1.23% while the NSE lost 1.25%.
They were the top performers at the session Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd., which rose 5.75% (261.85 points) to trade at 4,816.35 by the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NS: ) was up 4.38% or 8.30 to finish at 197.75 Reliance Industries Ltd (NS.:) was up 3.1%, or 95.95 points, to 2,640.80 late trade.
They were also the session’s worst performers Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS) fell 5.45%, or 123.30 point to trade at 2,140.20 by the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (NS:), fell 4.81%, or 27.60 point to close at 546.70 SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS) fell 4.15%, or 48.70 point to 1,124.70
Reliance Industries Ltd. rose 3.71%, to 2,638.45. ICICI Bank Ltd. was up 1.04%, to settle at 766.65. State Bank Of India (BO;) increased 0.44%, to close at 51.65.
Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 5.50% at 2,138.65 in late trading. HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO) lost 3.73% at 1,343.30. Infosys Ltd. (BO) was also down 3.55% at 1,563.95.
On the India National Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1369 to 459. 39 was unchanged, and on the Bombay Stock Exchange 2101 fell while 1192 were promoted, and 117 ended unchanged.
The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was up by 2.28% to 19.77.
The June delivery of Gold Futures was down by 0.38%, or 7.55, to $1978.85 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell by 1.33 or 1.24% to reach $106.28/barrel, and the June Brent Oil contract, which fell by 1.04% or 1.18 at $111.98/barrel.
USD/INR went up 0.2% to 76.51 while EUR/INR went up 0.4% to 82.54.
US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.1% to 100.87
