REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/IllustrationWELLINGTON (Reuters) – New Zealand unveiled new sanctions on Tuesday targeting Russia’s largest banks and financial institutions, in its response to the invasion of Ukraine.
Nanaia Mahuta (Foreign Minister) stated that she was deeply disturbed by reports of Russian brutality. This statement came after the announced measures.
“New Zealand continues to condemn Putin’s war and supports the International Criminal Court’s investigations into the atrocities committed against the citizens of Ukraine.”
The sovereign wealth fund, the central bank, and eight of Russia’s largest banks were also affected.
Moscow refers to its operation in Ukraine as “special military operations”.
