(Reuters) – British retailer WH Smith Plc announced Tuesday that it had suspended all orders for its Funky Pigeon online gift and greeting card business Funky Pigeon due to a cyber-security breach last week.

WH Smith sells stationery and books at its travel shops in hubs. However, WH Smith said that no payment information was stolen from Funky Pigeon.

Funky Pigeon and WH Smith said that they are investigating whether any personal data (names, addresses, e mail addresses, personalised cards and gift designs) has been accessed.

Funky Pigeon stated that they have also written to customers in the past 12 months to notify them about these issues.

This incident occurs amid increasing scrutiny of cyber defenses, especially on west financial institutions. It also comes in the aftermath of increased geopolitical tensions following Russia’s February invasion of Ukraine.

Based on current analyses, the company stated that the incident will not have any material effect on its financial position.
