(Reuters] – On Monday, a woman aged 27 was stabbed in both the thighs on a New York City subway platform. The attack came six days following a mass shooting underground.
A police spokesperson stated that the woman was unidentified and had been stabbed at 34th Street Herald Square station.
A spokesperson stated that the suspect, who was not identified, fled the subway “topside” and remained in the area on Monday evening.
New York City is experiencing a rise in violence and random attacks on subway passengers in the last few months.
There were several instances when passengers were forced onto trains from platforms. This included the murder of a Manhattan woman. It was part of a rise in hate crimes targeting Asian Americans.
According to a police spokesperson, Monday’s victim was not Asian. However, they declined further information.
Two smoke bombs were set off by a gunman on April 12th and opened fire inside a New York City subway train, inflicting more than 20 injuries. The suspect, identified as Frank James (62 years old), was arrested the next day.
