Yellen urges World Bank to develop ‘clear and ambitious’ climate targets -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters), – U.S. Treasury secretary Janet Yellen urged the World Bank Wednesday to establish “clear, ambitious targets” for climate adaption and global energy transition. She stressed the importance of these efforts in achieving a net zero energy future.

In a statement addressed to the Joint Steering Committee for the International Monetary Fund & World Bank, Yellen condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and stated that it has highlighted the negative consequences of relying on fossil fuels.

Yellen declared that it was important to continue to create and deploy renewable energy with zero emission and decrease dependence on unstable energy.
