Proof-of-stake blockchain protocol Algorand will implement a smart contract that will automate the offsetting of the network’s carbon emissions.

Algorand recently announced that its new smart contract will take a percentage of all transaction fees within the blockchain network to process them automatically for carbon credit purchases at ClimateTrade. ClimateTrade is a blockchain-based carbon offset platform.
