Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

NSE closed with the gain of 1.49% and index gains of 1.53%.

They were the top performers at the session Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS): Traded at 2,651.50 by the close, up 4.52%. That’s 114.70 point. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NSI:) finished at 206.90 with a gain of 3.92% and 7.80 points. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NSS:) was up 3.5% or 27.75 Points to 909.00 in late trading.

These were the worst performers of the session. Cipla Ltd. (NS): fell by 1.33%, or 13.50 points, to close at 998.55 Tata Steel Ltd (NS) fell 0.92%, or 12.10 point to close at 1,302.15. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd was down 0.77% (or 1.35 points) to 174.15.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.50% to 911.35, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.70% to settle at 7,875.85 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.46% to close at 15,890.00.

Tata Steel Ltd.(BO:), which fell 0.88% to 1,302.20 late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd. [BO:] which dropped 0.63% to 734.75 at the close and Nestle India Ltd. (“BO:”) which declined 0.60% at 18,203.90 at closing.

On the India National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered those in decline by 1326, 488, and 49. The ending of the Bombay Stock Exchange saw 2219 rise and 1084 fall, and 99 ended unchanged.

Coal India Ltd. (NS:) shares rose 52 weeks to new highs. They gained 3.92%, or 7.80 to 206.09.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.51%, or 9.90, to $1.945.70 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose 0.92 or 0.90% to $103.11 per barrel. The June Brent oil contract rose 1.35 or 1.26% to $108.15 per barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.19% at 76.13 while EUR/INR rose by 0.35% at 83.02.
