Intuitive Surgical Shares Rose 2% Following Q1 Earnings Beat -Breaking

© Reuters. The Q1 earnings beat saw Intuitive surgical shares rise by 2%

Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:) shares rose 2% higher after-hours following the company’s first-quarter earnings results, with EPS of $1.13 coming in better than the Street estimate of $1.08. Due to an increase in da Vinci procedure volumes and system placements, revenue grew by 15% over the year to $1.49billion, which was higher than the Street estimate at $1.43billion.

The number of da Vinci procedures worldwide increased by 19% over the past year, and 311 da Vinci Surgical Systems were placed. This represents an increase in 4% annually.

Gary Guthart, CEO of Guthart Communications said that “customer demand for our products continued to be strong in the first quarter” despite the challenging environment. “We will keep delivering high-quality services and products to our customers while continuing to innovate.”

Intuitive Surgery shares are at 18% lower year-over-year.
