WASHINGTON (Reuters] – In the days that followed the fatal riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 the House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy acknowledged some responsibility for what had happened, according to The New York Times.

The Times quoted audio that it obtained from McCarthy’s January 11, 2021 call with House Republicans. This audio is a follow-up to an earlier Times story that McCarthy had told lawmakers he planned to call Trump and urge him to resign.
