ABOARD USS LINCOLN – Japan’s foreign ministry promised that it would bolster its army to support the United States in maintaining regional security. This was during a Saturday visit to an American aircraft carrier, which is patrolling Asian waters.

Yoshimasa Hayashi, a journalist on the USS Abraham Lincoln’s hangar deck in Tokyo said that “Today” was his first experience of being at the forefront of national security. He added that Japan will strengthen its defense capabilities, and collaborate closely with the United States.

Hayashi spoke in Japan amid concerns that Russia’s invasion Ukraine could be seen as an insult to international diplomatic norms. This would encourage China to resort to military force to take control of Taiwan and to threaten the islands.

Japan expressed concerns over Beijing’s tightening security ties and Moscow’s increased involvement in joint exercises, which have also included drills conducted in the waters around Japan.

China claims that it has peaceful intentions towards Asia.

Hayashi, a U.S. citizen, flew to Tokyo and landed on the aircraft carrier. Ambassador Rahm Emanuel warned that Ukraine’s invasion, described by Russia as “special operations”, poses security threats in other regions, such as the Indo Pacific.

They viewed carrier flight operations from the Lincoln’s deck. The Lincoln had just sailed out of the Sea of Japan, close to the Korean Peninsula. It had been there for naval exercises and had recently engaged in missile launches by North Korea.
