(Reuters) – Ukraine asked for a complete list of equipment from the International Atomic Energy Agency in order to run its nuclear power stations during war with Russia. This was according to Rafael Grossi, Director General at IAEA.

He stated that this includes protective material and radiation measurement devices.

He stated that “we will coordinate the implementation the assistance the IAEA will provide and its member countries will provide”, including delivery of equipment to Ukraine’s nukes sites.”

“These are very urgent needs and I am grateful to the substantial support our Member States already have indicated that they will provide.”

Ukraine is home to 15 operating reactors, four of them at its plant. Seventeen are connected to Ukraine’s grid. Two at Zaporizhzhia (currently controlled by Russia) have two.

Grossi claimed that the IAEA still did not receive remote data transmissions via its monitoring systems located at the Chornobyl facility.

Rossi plans to visit the powerstation next week. He will be visiting it after Russian forces invaded Ukraine in April. However, they left on March 31. He stated that he would also hand over radiomonitoring equipment, as well as personal safety equipment.
