Donald Trump said Monday to CNBC that he would not return to the United States. Twitter even if Elon MuskThe ban was reversed by President Obama’s successor.

CNBC’s Joe Kernen heard the ex-president say, “No. I won’t go back on Twitter.”

“I will be appearing on Truth Social during the week. Everything is on time. There are many people who have signed up. I like Elon Musk. His personality is very appealing to me. His character is exceptional. While I was at The White House, Twitter helped us a lot. Twitter treated me poorly. I will not be returning to Twitter.

Twitter permanently suspendedTrump retreated from the platform on January 20, 21 following an attack by supporters of the U.S. Capital, Jan 6. The company stated that it took the decision because of the “risk of further inciting violence.” Trump’s platform had over 80 million users.

Over Questions whether Trump would be allowed back on TwitterAfter Musk declared his interest in buying the company, the possibility of a deal was created to allow Musk free speech.

Musk said in a recent TED interview, “It is just really important for people to have both the reality as well the perception that it’s possible to freely speak within the limits of the law.” Musk stated that he doesn’t like permanent bans but believes suspensions work better. SpaceX TeslaTwitter has been used by CEO to make jokes, promote his businesses and even to support the cryptocurrencies that he is interested in.

Truth Social was billed as an alternative to Big Tech platforms and free speech. It falls under the former president’s Trump Media & Technology Group, which is poised to merge with Digital World Acquisition Corp. Stock shares plunged nearly 13%Twitter accepted Musk’s offer of taking the company private on Monday.
