Judge holds Donald Trump in contempt for failing to comply with NY subpoena

An American judge held ex-President Donald Trump contemptuously in court Monday because he failed to obey a subpoena to obtain business documents regarding an investigation of the state attorney general.

Trump must pay $10,000 each day if he does not comply with subpoenas.

After a hearing lasting more than two hours, Manhattan’s Attorney General Letitia Jam criticized Trump for not turning over required documents on time.

James is looking into allegations that the Trump Organization improperly modified the values of several real estate assets to secure more favorable terms on loans and insurance coverage as well as lower their taxes.

James wrote, “In major victory, the court has ruled against Donald Trump,”
