U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.70% -Breaking

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The index rose 0.70% at the close of NYSE. It climbed 0.57% and climbed 1.29%.

The best performers of the session on the were Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:), which rose 2.46% or 4.47 points to trade at 186.01 at the close. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:), however, added 2.4% or 6.69 to trade at 280.72. American Express Late trade saw Company (NYSE:), rise 1.97%, or 3.56 points, to 184.10

They were also the session’s worst performers Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE :), fell 3.14% (1.63 points) to trade at 52.28 at close. Chevron Corporation (NYSE:) fell 2.15%, or 3.46 points, to close at 157.49 Nike Inc (NYSE:), was at 127.94 with a drop of 0.88%, or 1.13 points.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Moderna Inc (NASDAQ) rose by 7.18% and now stands at 150.41 Match Group Inc (NASDAQ-:) This was an increase of 6.70% and settled at 82.48 Fortinet Inc (NASDAQ:), which saw a gain of 6.31%, to reach 323.49.

Charles River Laboratories, NYSE:), which fell 7.21% at 253.34 in late trading, Schlumberger NV NYSE: (NYSE:), which dropped 7.11% at 38.69, and Halliburton Company NYSE: which declined 6.26% at 35.33 at closing.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Nkarta Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 140.93% to 18.72, Rubius Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 was up 40.60% and settled at 1.87. Erytech Pharma SA ADR NASDAQ 🙂 gained 37.70% and closed at 1.68.

Clarus Therapeutics Holdings Inc, NASDAQ:), was the worst performer. It fell 56.17% to 0.79 late trade. Eliem Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 55.76% to settle for 2.88 Toughbuilt Industries Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 44.87% to 14.57 minutes before the closing

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those in progress by 1712-1502 and 108 ended unchanged.

Eliem Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to their lowest level in over a decade, falling 55.76% to 3.63 to 2.88. Toughbuilt Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares plunged to new lows, losing 44.87% (11.6 to 14.57).

For June delivery, Gold Futures fell 1.84% (or 35.55) to $1.898.75 per troy-ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 3.07% (or 3.13) to $98.94/barrel, and the July Brent crude oil contract, which fell 3.40% (3.61), to trade for $102.54/barrel.

The EUR/USD fell 0.75 to 1.07 while the USD/JPY dropped 0.39% at 128.07.
